POKAL VINKA ŠTRUCLA - COMPETITION OF SLOVENIAN ORCHESTRA IN LIGHT MUSIC

This is a professionally-supported wind orchestra and brass band competition with an entertaining character organized for artists from Slovenia and abroad.

 

“AH, TE ORGLICE” - INTERNATIONAL HARMONICA FESTIVAL

This is a concert and professionally-supported competition of solo artists and chamber groups on mouth organs (harmonicas) that perform with an adjusted but nevertheless excellently selected and diverse concert programme.

 

ROCK VIZIJE, young rock bands festival

The purpose of this festival is to present and award the most distinguished rock bands and to promote their development and quality progress. An expert jury searches for innovativeness, quality performance and expressive value in the performers.

 

FESTIVAL OF SLOVENIAN TAMBURICA AND MANDOLIN GROUPS

A competitive presentation of the best Slovenian tambourine and mandolin groups and orchestras. The best Slovenian groups perform on this professionally-supported event by competing against each other with thematically completed and high-quality concert programmes.

 

FESTIVAL OF YOUTH TAMBURICA GROUPS

This is a concert and professionally-supported presentation of youth tambourine groups and orchestras, taking young tambourine artists into the musical world of various tambourine compositions.

 

FESTIVAL OF ACCORDION ORCHESTRAS

This festival enables Slovenian accordion orchestras to perform along with other artists of similar ensembles and to present themselves to the audience and professional public on a national level.

 

FESTIVAL OF INSTRUMENTAL GROUPS

This competitive-selection festival enables different instrumental groups of up to 25 members to socialize and exchange experience. This festival also selects participating representatives to perform at the brass festival in Guča.

 

MAREZIJAZZ, international big band festival

MareziJazz is the largest big band festival in Central Europe and is annually taking place at the beginning of June with two exquisite jazz nights. The festival is distinguished by a symbiosis of traditional and contemporary music with new authorial approaches.

NATIONAL COMPETITION IN CONCERT PERFORMANCE

The all-Slovenian wind orchestra competition is held in four difficulty levels and offers brass bands the chance to present themselves with mandatory musical pieces of a Slovenian and a foreign composer as well as a piece of their choice. Contestants need to win three honor golden medals in order to progress to the next category.

 

NATIONAL COMPETITION IN CONCERT PERFORMANCE for YOUTH ORCHESTRAS

The youth and school competition in concert performance is unique in Slovenia. It is supervised by a professional jury and carries a distinctive competitive-educational character. The competition’s goal is the programme-oriented education of young music artists.

 

MUSICA CREATIVA, youth musician camp

The traditional international summer creative music days present modern creativity through different educational programme bundles and give insight into international trends. This event is being executed by top music mentors. The wind orchestra also operates under the artistic guidance of a renowned conductor.

 

FESTIVAL OF SENIOR WIND ORCHESTRAS

This festival has a versatile concert programme and is dedicated to socializing and exchange of experience between veteran bands, consisting of musicians aged above 50. It is a “musical introduction” into the national Festival of the Third Age.

 

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION IN CONCERT PROGRAMME (SLOVENIA)

This most demanding concert competition is executed on a very high organizational and performing level, every three years in different cities around Slovenia, comparing Slovenian and foreign concert bands to each other. The orchestras are being evaluated by an international five-member professional jury that consists of world-renowned concert bands, names which have performed in numerous competitions and at festivals outside of Slovenia.
