TOMAŽ ŠALAMUN POETRY CENTRE

Tomaž Šalamun Poetry Centre operates at the premises of the Public Fund of the Republic of Slovenia for Cultural Activities. This is a huge, nearly 100 metres long collection of books that have been put to public use by Metka Krašovec. The caretaker of the collection is Aleš Šteger – writer and editor. The collection contains books of poetry, literary theory and literature; there are many original books of renowned authors with dedications. The collection also includes all books by Tomaž Šalamun, translations of his poetry into twenty foreign languages and magazines in which his poems were published. The centre is open to all visitors and poetry readers. Through the centre, the poetic world has gained a new space in the very centre of Ljubljana that is devoted to the lyric and is also a library, documentation centre and creative space intended for presentations, round tables and other cultural events and guest appearances of various authors.
