Mentor magazine is announcing a

»NEIGHBOUR OF YOUR SHORE 2014« open call for literary texts and a nationwide gathering entitled

IN THE PORT OF WORDS

 

The open call is aimed at authors who - regardless of their citizenship – live in Slovenia (temporarily or permanently) and write in their mother tongue (not Slovenian).


Eligible texts

Prose and dramatic texts – up to 10 pages (can be fragments of longer texts), poetry – up to 10 poems. Attached translations into Slovene are welcomed, but are not obligatory. Please send  texts that have not been previously published in book form.


Anonymous entries

All entries are anonymous and should consist of an identification code and an additional email attachment that includes the application form with the following data: name and surname of the author, home address, year of birth, education or profession, telephone number, email address, and the language in which the text is written. This data will be used solely for the purposes of this competition.

 

Jury

The received texts will be read by a professional jury of literature experts for individual languages who will select the best authors and invite them to the nationwide gathering (a maximum of ten authors). The selected texts will be published in the magazine Paralele. The authors will not receive a fee for the published texts.

 

Application

The authors should send in their works to the following email address: mentor@jskd.si by Friday, 18th April 2013. The original text should be sent in the language it was written in (not Slovene), while the email should carry the subject »Neighbour of your shore 2014«.

 

The nationwide gathering Neighbour of your shore 2014 that will take place on Saturday, 31st May 2014 will be organised in partnership with the JSKD branch in Koper. The programme will include a presentation of all applications (morning readings at various points in Koper's centre) a literary workshop, literary and musical recitals by selected authors, as well as presentations of new books by participating authors and guests. You will be informed as regards the selection and invitation to the nationwide gathering.
