Pripelje nas do nas samih, do preizpraševanja, kdo smo in kako živimo.
Pustimo, da skozi nas teče večni ples običajnih misli, divjih fantazij, vrelih čustev krhkosti, lomljivosti, žalosti, radosti, vztrajnosti, zanosa, sreče …. Ta čudoviti ples življenja!

Festival of young dance creativity ŽIVA is an annual event which presents a cross-section of current activites of the selected dance groups and individuals from all over Slovenia as well as guests from abroad. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Živa Kraigher, after whom the festival is named. Živa Kraigher, dance pedagogue, choreographer and long-time head of the Department of Expressive Dance at the SGBŠ in Ljubljana, influenced the development of Slovenian dance. She dedicated her life completely to dance. She dreamed about it, danced, performed, taught, choreographed, wrote…
This year's Živa festival is different, but still creative, professional, experiential and educational.
Due to the spring epidemic, most of the dance miniatures have disappeared and therefore the program includes only dance performances that managed to take place in the period before or after the epidemic. This year's program is thus perfected by stories related to the isolation, social conditions and vulnerability of the human soul.
We live in a time when movement and contact with the outside world is forbidden. Personal intimate spaces have become public spaces of communication and performance, and so this year's dance production, due to the inability to create performances, was focused on video dance works.
The festival program will also evoke memories of Živa Kraigher's work and acquaint young dancers with the importance of her work for the development of Slovenian contemporary dance art. In the pedagogical field, she developed her method and set herself the mission of "giving a young dancer solid dance-technical knowledge so that she/he could master the body and extract her/his own dance expression from it".
Her thoughts: “Relentlessly explore the truth”; "Find your own way"; “Get out of your skin”; "Pour into the dance movement"; "Avoid formalism and do not succumb to the desire for a pleasing movement" ... are the focus of the festival, which promotes the dance creativity of young people. Just as Živa Kraigher successfully cultivated diversity and never made her dancers conform, so the Živa festival does not regulate but opens the door to the expression of young people who are searching for their way, opening up and exploring at this time.
Dance exists now and will persist into the future. It leads us to ourselves, to questioning who we are and how we live.
Let the eternal dance of ordinary thoughts, wild fantasies, boiling emotions of fragility, sadness, joy, perseverance, enthusiasm, happiness flow through us…. This wonderful dance of life!

Predavanje 100 let Žive Kraigher / Lecture 100 years of Živa Kraigher, Bara Kolenc
The lecture is dedicated to the life and work of Živa Kraigher. At the forefront is the question of the emancipatory impulses of contemporary dance and the mechanisms of resistance. These questions can be traced throughout her artistic and pedagogical work and through these her creative path can be placed in the wider Slovenian and European social and artistic context.

Ballad was conceived in Živa Kraigher a long time before it was finally formed in 1989. The main sources of inspiration for it were the music of Chopin's Ballad no. 1 in G minor and a small sculpture of a seated female figure made by Stojan Batič. Dancer Saša Staparski Dobravec, with whom Živa originally created the choreography, has transferred her experience of the work process and choreography to the dancer Urša Rupnik.

Kako se naši prostori in gibi srečajo v virtualnem? Kako smo fizično skupaj, čeprav narazen?
This is a story about us - a story about how our rooms, kitchens, living rooms have become ballrooms. The space of intimacy becomes a public, staging space. How do our spaces and movements meet in the virtual world? How are we physically together, although apart?

“Showers” is an associative journey which exposes tiny particles of history, or alternatively brief peeks into a human’s soul. A non-chronological story line of one who is thoroughly tortured yet perfectly complete. “Showers” is a collection of ordinary thoughts, wild fantasies, boiling emotions, paralyzing confusion and everlasting existential doubts.

Letos zaradi koronskih in političnih razmer nisem čutila potrebe po izražanju.
Who are you? What is your true voice? When have you last listened to it and let it be your guide? Where were you when you first felt like a “person”? What was your favorite song back then?
This year because of Corona and political situation I felt no need in expressing myself. I crumbled, dived deeply into myself, I was tired, and had enough.
Following severe protests and an unprecedented awakening of the Israeli society (and other
protests that have arisen around the world) I was filled with rage and resentment. This anger is now a part of what drives me and keeps me from giving up.
Nowadays i am dealing with finding my voice again as an individual. It might be raspy and broken, but it is definitely mine, and maybe even our’s.
I tried to create a scheme. A scheme that will become one of the countless possibilities for self expression. It is a set plan with “blank spots” and “insert here”.
