Public Tender for Artists' Residencies at the Cankarjeva Residency Centre in Ljubljana (2025 - 2026)
1. The Purpose of the TenderThe Republic of Slovenia Public Fund for Cultural Activities (Javni sklad republike Slovenije za kulturne dejavnosti, hereinafter JSKD) is launching this tender to promote the international mobility of artists and strengthen the connections between foreign artists and the local artistic community in Ljubljana. The aim of the tender is to facilitate in-depth creative work, the development of new projects and collaborative practices, as well as to foster the exchange of knowledge and approaches across various artistic disciplines. 2. Target groupThe tender is open to both Slovenian and foreign artists working in the following fields: - fine arts, - theatre, - literature, - film in multimedia, - cultural heritage and folklore, - vocal and instrumental music, - dance, - interdisciplinary arts. In their applications, artists must demonstrate an interest in collaboration with local artists or organisations and prepare a clear plan of activities and collaborations for the duration of their residency. 3. Conditions and scope of support- The residency includes free use of a furnished apartment in the centre of Ljubljana and access to some of JSKD's workspaces (upon prior reservation). - Financial support is not included: the tender does not include a stipend or travel reimbursement. - Residency is available between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026. - Duration of residency: from 1 week up to a maximum of 1 month. 4. Facilities and infrastructureThe following facilities are available: - two furnished residential units, - a multi-purpose lecture theatre for rehearsals, creative gatherings, and exhibitions, - Skladovnica Hall (with the maximum capacity of up to 50 people) suitable for film screenings, smaller drama performances and expert gatherings, - art workshop. The use of additional facilities is possible upon prior reservation and arrangement. A detailed description of the residency facilities can be found here 5. Selection criteriaThe selection of applications is based on professional evaluation of the submitted proposals. The committee will evaluate: - the artistic/cultural value and the relevance of the project, - the rationale and feasibility of the activities planned for the duration of the residency, - the contribution to the development of the field and possible involvement of the local community, - the applicant's credentials (previous work, collaborations, awards, etc.). 6. Obligations and expectations for artistsThe selected artists will commit to: - make a public presentation of their work or the results of the residency, - collaborate with local artists or JSKD's advisors, - submit a report in Slovenian or English, - adhere to the HOUSE RULES FOR USERS, as failure to do so will result in the termination of the residency by JSKD. 7. Application procedureApplication deadline: from 20 May to 20 June 2025. - The application form must be completed in Slovenian or English through the online link. - For group applications: one member completes the application form, while others submit their CVs. Applicants will be notified of the results of the tender within 30 days following the closure of the tender.
